An Exciting Change

I'm excited to share great news - I'm transferring to a new team at Google! Right now I work on Shopping, and although I will miss the people, I'm ready for a new challenge. I'll be going to an Infrastructure engineering team that works on Customer Support Apps, like setting up phone support. I know I'll meet many new people and have interaction with lots of teams, which is what makes me so excited for the change.

Now for the kicker - this team has a global meeting in Hamburg, Germany, in mid-June. That's right, in the last two days I confirmed a new role AND booked a flight to Germany! I've never been to Germany and can't wait to see all the sights (aka drink all the beer.)

This trip might send my high PR hopes for the SF half down the drain, but I think it'll all be worth it in the end. If I miss the trip, I wouldn't have the chance to meet the whole team so soon and it's so much easier to work with people after you've met. I'll still be back two days before the race to enjoy the SFM Ambassador fun; I might just be really jet-lagged. There will be more race goals this year.

That's my excitement of the week. Happy long weekend all!

  4. Congrats on the new team, Paulette! I'll have to ask you more about it over ping. There are so many teams/roles/orgs that I don't even know about!

  5. OH MY GOSH!!! My division is HQ in Hamburg and I am going to be there in mid-June as well. What are the dates you are going? I haven't booked my trip yet (I'll know more about the details tomorrow morning) but it would be fun to meet up for a run (if you have time!). Where are you staying? I go there all the time for work and lived there for a little while in 2008 so I am pretty familiar with the city. YEAH! Congrats! So exciting!

  6. That's awesome about going to Germany! You will love it! You have so many races in the pipeline, you shouldn't worry about maybe not making your race goal for the SF half. Hope the team change was something you wanted as well. :)
