It's Marathon Time

Today I learned I'd be traveling to Dublin and Cork for work over the weekend of October 26. And then I learned the Dublin Marathon is on October 28. You can guess what happened next...

That's right, I signed up for the Dublin Marathon! I know I have enough time to be ready with my current base, and I've had my eye on this race ever since I spent three weeks in Dublin in 2010. I love the city and basically everything about Ireland. I'm thrilled to be going back, and even more excited that I'm spending the weekend there before the work part starts.

My I-signed-up-for-a-marathon high stayed with me into tonight's track session and I ran my 400s consistently as well as faster than I used to. Hopefully this is a sign of progress! It feels awesome to be back to speed work for the fall after a long speed work break.

Marathon training, here I come!

  6. Way cool! When I was in Barcelona this past spring, I left the day of the Barcelona Marathon. I debated it, but now regret not pushing my flight back to do it.

  9. That is awesome - Dublin is a ton of fun. I went there in 2010. Some of the nicest people I've ever been around are in Ireland. Make a day trip to Howth (30 minute DART ride from Dublin) if you have time, gorgeous over there.
