Rave Run in the Headlands

The Marin Headlands is one of my fave places to run, and yesterday we had quite the run meet up with SF Marathon Ambassadors and friends. We had perfect, sunny weather, no fog to impact our views, and great company. Being on the SF Marathon Ambassador team is awesome because we get to represent the race, but I especially love meeting new run friends from the group too.

We started from the parking lot off of Conzelman Road and ran the 'ninja loop.' It's an 11.5 mile loop complete with some big climbs, fun downhill, and views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The total climb is somewhere around 2000 feet and it's pretty challenging. I've run parts of this loop before but never actually done the official ninja loop.

The group: Kevin, Matt, Kristin, Matt, Meg, Chris, Erin, Sarah, Erin, (and in front) Alisyn, me.

Heading back toward the Golden Gate.

 Wow, SF looks beautiful.

My downhill return to the car.

After the run, we headed to Southern Pacific Brewing in SF to meet more SFM Ambassadors and for some much needed food and beer. I'd been to the brewery once before in 2012, but I enjoyed the beer and food much more this time. That said, I'm not sure if the restaurant got better or if the runger just made me appreciate it more.

I can't wait for more run and beer meet ups with this group - such a fun Saturday. And don't forget to sign up for the SF Marathon events if you haven't yet. Use discount code DSC10TSFM2014A66 for $10 off!

  1. What a gorgeous trail and incredible photo of the Golden Gate Bridge and downtown San Francisco. I have yet to run in the Bay area, but it's on my running bucket list. :) P.S. Love that you followed your run with a nice cold beer.
